Kiefer Creative is a visual communications studio that emerged more than 25 years ago in Liverpool, New York. After several years of full-time work at a Houston-based graphic design firm and then as an in-house graphic designer—first with a large university and then for a local hospital—Colleen Kiefer accepted a freelance project for a local theatre. The client relationships that developed from those early experiences gave Kiefer Creative a firm footing for growth.

Since then, the business has moved to offices in the historic Gleason Building in Liverpool, NY; has endeared itself to new clients; and has been recognized for design excellence. Software has been upgraded more than a few times; while the firm’s disciplined approach to visual problem solving remains timeless and robust. Founder and Creative Director, Colleen Kiefer, appreciates the beauty and functionality of a well designed page; while her grasp of and enthusiasm for new media provides constant motivation to acquire digital fluency as the communications landscape broadens.

Kiefer earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Visual Communications at the University of Houston; but, her college experience began at the State University College at Buffalo. The outcome was a firm grasp of design fundamentals, the nature of color and light, the language of typography, and the story of photography. That training along with a certificate in Web Technology from Onondaga Community College informs her work today as Kiefer Creative develops superior content for diverse media.

Kiefer Creative’s greatest asset, however, is its ability to actively listen and to shepherd a client’s goals to fruition with grace, balance and creativity. Working closely with communications directors, writers, editors, photographers, and business leaders in education, health care, fundraising, industry and retail, Kiefer Creative has produced timeless design and been recognized by SUNYCUAD, Art Directors Club of Washington, DC, The Society of Technical Writers, and CASE, Syracuse Press Club, and Healthcare Marketing.
